Spring Fling 2009

On Saturday, I got to go to a regional Stampin' Up! meeting in Denville, NJ. Here are two of the fabulous make and take projects we got to make. The first one was a Stationary Box filled with cards and tags using the Walk in the Park designer series paper and Summer Love Rub-Ons. The second project was a shadow box made with the Beautiful Butterflies die cut and our home decor elements. For those of you who attended, I tend to love buttons and brads on my butterflies, so I changed that when I got home otherwise here are the fabulous projects we made.

Different Twists

Just to show one idea can spin off to another card idea. I decided to post two of my cards that I created that just that.

The first one is based on my card that was on Stamper's Showcase. Click here to see the other card. The only thing that I did differently was attaching pieces of ribbon to the side of the card, wide chocolate chip grosgrain and blue bayou double stiched ribbon.

The second card was one I made for my mom's birthday. Click here to see that card. The only difference between this card and the one I made was a less flowers and embellishments and thinner ribbons. Happy 4th of July!

Birthday Card for the Men in Your Life

Well I have to say, it's always a challenge, when I have to make a birthday card for any men. In this case, I decided to use our Wild Wasabi Prints Designer Series Paper to help me out. Here I took two of the papers and did some color blocking with them. I stamped the greeting from the Celebrate Everything stamp set onto Sahara Sand card stock. The second word saying comes from the Full of Life stamp set that was just in the last Occasions mini. I punched out the stars with my large and small star punches and put vintage brads through the center. The finishing touch was the double stiched Wild Wasaibi ribbon attached in the center of the card.

Extra Cardstock

I had some extra card stock cut up from June's Open Workshop. Since I needed a 40th masculine birthday card I decided to change it up a little bit and make a card for the party I was going to this past weekend. First, I started with stamping the Canvas background followed by the Calendar stamp set. Next came stamping the word June from the Full Calendar stamp set. Next came stamping the cupcake from the Holiday Blitz stamp set which I cut out and adhered to the card with a dimensional. Next, I stamped the word Happy Birthday from the Amazing and Zany stamp set. Next, I punched out a 1 3/8" square with chocolate chip card stock. Next, I took the 1 3/8" inch circle and punched it out. On the circle I stamped the word celebrate from the Everyday Flexible Phrases set and stamped the number 30 from the Short Order Alphabet. I attached the circle onto the card with a Stampin' Dimensional. Next came a piece of hodgepodge hardware that I tied some poly twill chocolate chip ribbon and attached it to the square. Next, I adhered a strip of the poly twill ribbon to the chocolate chip strip and two natural buttons finish the card.

Today is eScape Day

Today is Stampin' Up! first ever eScape day. It's a day to connect with family and friends. Turn off laptops, cell phones, pagers, PDAs, and all those other electronic devices that we've grown so accustomed to. Take the time to reconnect with friends and loved ones through personal communication. Well since I have to go to work, I know I can't escape some of those electronic devices. I did want to take a minute to talk about two of my stamping buddies and what their friendship has meant to me as well taking a minute to showcase some of their beautiful work. Two friendships, Colleen and Tracy that started with a love of the craft has become two special friendship that I have come to depend and cherish.

Tracy was great and that she did get a beautiful card in the mail to me to celebrate the day. Here it is made with the Pretty Petals stamp set. She colored the flowers in with her Stampin' Write Markers. She then colored in the greeting from Think Happy Thoughts and punched it out her circle punches. I love how she did that! The finishing touch was the wide grosgrain ribbon in the Old Olive color.

She also has given me 2 terrific baby cards that I've been meaning to post but I haven't had a minute to do so. One is made with the great stamp set in the Occasions mini, By Ones & By Twos. For you Stampin' Up! demonstrators, you may recognize this as a card that made it on Stamper's Showcase this week. She stamped the onesie on a piece of Berry Bliss Designer paper and then cut it out and attached it to the card. She stamped the Polka Dot background stamp. The scallop border was made with the 5/16"corner rounder. some grosgrain and gingham ribbon finish the project.

The next card also created by Tracy is made with the onesie template found on Lauren Meader's blog. She stamped the butterfly from the Sweet Shapes stamp set. The greeting comes from the Short & Sweet stamp set. The finishing touches were the scallope edges and the silver brads.

The next two projects came from my friend Colleen. The first one she made with the Fresh Cuts stamp set that is a sneak peak to the Fall Winter Idea Book that you can purchase now. She stamped in Silver ink and embossed the image. The greeting she stamped and then punche with her two ovals. The background is the Soft Sky Designer Series paper. The bottom of the card, she punched with the 1/4" inch circle Basic Grey card stock and then put a silver brad through the center.

Next project that I received from Colleen was a Jacob's ladder project. Click here to see the tutorial on how to make the project. It's a great way to showcase pictures or just have fun playing with it. Here she made it with some chipboard coasters, some ribbon and Berry Bliss designer series paper.

Color Challenge with Pretty Petals

This week's color challenge is Certainly Celery, Eggplant Envy and Orchid Opulence. So here I took out my Stampin' Write Markers and colored in the background stamp Pretty Petals. I then I then stamped the butterfly a second time and cut it out and popped it up with a dimensional on the card. Next I stamped the greeting from the Full of Life stamp set from the Occasions mini. Only a few more days left for this mini, if you had your eye on something, email me and let me know so I can get your order in. Lastly a strip of Eggplant Envy was adhered to the card along with a white taffeta bow.

Seriously Sassy

Here's a birthday card I made with the Seriously Sassy stamp set. I stamped the Freakin' Out Rose with Chocolate Chip ink on Pretty in Pink card stock and cut it out. I then made a scallop edge with my slit punch. Next, I attached a strip of Pretty in Pink Prints designer series paper that comes from the Hostess Exclusive paper pack. The finishing touch was the Chocolate chip poly-twill ribbon from the Occasions mini. Only a few more days left for the Occasion mini. Make sure you check the items before it's too late to own them.

Prehistoric Pals 12x12 Scrapbook Page

Here is my girly prehistoric pals 12x12 scrapbook page featuring my beautiful niece. I first started with stamping the dinosaurs from the set in Garden Green. Next came the flowers from the Polka Dots & Petals stamp set that I stamped in Regal Rose. The title was stamped in the Taffy Alphabet stamp set. The large circle I made my using my hobby blade and my cutting mat and using a plate as my guide. I used my 1 inch circle punch to make the scallop edge arond the circle. The center of some of the flowers I put silver brads through the center. I did a little journaling inside the designer label punch out in which I framed it with the Styled Silver Hardware. Lastly, the page on the right, I threaded the ribbon slide with white grosgrain ribon.

Homemade Graduation Card

Here's a homemade graduation card I made for my Goddaughter. I can still remember when she was a little girl, I can't believe she is all grown up and now a graduate. So here I took a piece of the Summer Picnic designer series paper from our Occasions mini and paired it up with the Great Grads stamp set. I stamped the word grad from that set and the then congrats came from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set. Next I punched some stars and put a gold brad through the center. I attached the stars and the greeting onto the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. In between the designer paper and the real red card stock you will find a piece of Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon.

Carousel Notes Mirror

When I saw this idea, I just knew I had to case and recreate it. I don't remember where I saw this great project. How great is this home decor item made with two carousel notes from the Occasions Mini and a mirror I got in the craft store. First I attached the mirror to a carousel note with sticky strip which will be my base. Next I cut out the center of the second carousel note with our coluzzle cutting system. I then made cut out the circle frame with the coluzzle in Wild Wasabi card stock. I then attached the cut out carousel note and the frame to the front of the mirror with more sticky strip. Next, I stamped the flowers from the True Friend stamp set and cut them out. The greeting comes from the Smarty Pants stamp set. Next, I used my crop-a-dile to punch holes into the center of each of the scallops. Lastly, I attached some groovy guava double stiched ribbon.

Tart & Tangy 8 1/2 x 11 Scrapbook Page

Here are this week's color combination: Almost Amethyst, Mellow Moss and Bravo Burgundy. Well I kept thinking what stamp set could I possibly use for this color combination. I kept thinking a floral because of the mellow moss could be used for the leaves. Then it came to me that I can stamp my cherries in Bravo Burgundy. So I took my Stampin' Write Markers out and used the Mellow Moss and Bravo Burgundy to color the cherries in. Then I took my flower trio punch from the Three For You punch box and punched out two flowers that I put a silver brad through the center. I attached them to the strip of white with my Stampin' Dimensionals. Next I made a scallop border with my slit punch. Next I took my Short Order alphabet and stamped the word cousins and punched each of the letters our with my 3/4" square punch. The finishing touch was the Mellow Moss grosgrain ribbon.

Birthday Card for My Mom

Here is card I made for my mom for her birthday. I made with the Die-cut Blooms and the Just B stamp set. I layered the flowers from the die-cuts and then popped up centers and the flowers to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. The top of the card, I put a piece of Pumpkin Pie Designer Series Paper and then it was followed by a strip of Real Red grosgrain ribbon. The bottom of the card, I put a piece of Real Red card stock and paper pierced it. The top corner, I used the photo corner and also paper piereced it. I stamped the B from the Just B stamp set and cut it out. The last piece was a knot tied and attached with a mini glue dot.

Spring Solitude Scrapbook Page

Here is this week's color combination: Mellow Moss, Certainly Celery and Basic Grey. I started to pull the colors together and when I did I deceided to use my Certainly Celery polka dot designer paper from the Spring Fling collection. Then came the twig branch from the Spring Solitude, hostess exclusive stamp set which I stamped a border of. I then stamped the title with my short order alphabet. I pulled out the Styled Silver brads from the Hodgepodge collection available in the Occasions mini.

Gift from my Friend Debbie

Here is an altered notebook I received from my friend Debbie. How beautiful is this notebook. she covered it with the Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper from the Occasions mini catalog. She then added monogram pearl letters she found in the dollar bin in Michaels. She then stamped the word Friend from the Fundamental Phrases and punched it out with the Word Window punch. She then tied it onto the letter with our linen thread. She embellished the notebook with Pretties with a rhinestone brad, Wild Wasabi double stitched and white taffeta ribbon. Thank you Debbie for this beautiful work of art.

Tart & Tangy 12x12 Scrapbook Pages

Here is a great summer 12x12 page layout using the Tart & Tangy stamp set. So simple and so easy to recreate for any of your sumer occasions. I stamped the orange/lemon stamp in only orange and then yo yo yellow. It was great using these two colors, it seems like I haven't broke open these stamp pads in ages. Next came the title which I stamped with the taffy alphabet. Then I made a scallop edge with my slit punch and paper pierced the center. Then strips of pumpkin pie ribbon were adhered. I then tied bows and attached them to the page with mini glue dots. I embellished the page with taking the lemons and punching them out with the 1 3/8" circle punch and the cutting them in half. I attached them to the page with dimensionals.

Priceless Friendship Scrapbook Page

Here is this week's color challenge: Always Artichoke and Eggplant Envy. I decided to make it into a Priceless friendship scrapbook page. I stamped the swirls. Then the flowers were stamped and cut out. I put a silver brad through the center and attached them to the page with dimensionals. The greeting comes from the Wonderful Words stamp set. Then a strips of Always Artichoke were put on the left and right hand sides of the page to add some color to the Whisper White card stock. Next, I tied some Eggplant Envy card stock. The last touch was putting the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware in place.

Homemade Thank You Card

Here is a homemade thank you card with minimal stamping. The background of the card comes from out Cutie Pie Designer Series paper. I made the scallop edge with my slit punch. Then some white grosgrain ribbon is the finishing touch on the top of the card. The greeting comes from Full of Life. The two flowers come from the Build a Flower Accents and Elements.

3 Cards with One Design

Here is a card template I came up with that is super easy and a great way to use up Designer Series Paper scraps as well as because of all the punching your card stock scraps. It first starts with a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 cut down the middle verticall, so you should now have a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of card stock. You then score the piece at 2 inches and then fold the rest of the white card stock under. The first thing you do is make your scallop edge with your slit punch that you attach to the flap. Each of the scallops you paper pierce with your paper piercer. Then you take a matching piece of paper and cover the rest of the Whisper White card stock. To hide where the paper meets, you tie a piece of coordinating ribbon. Then you embellish and add a greeting.

The first card is made with Purely Pomegranate card stock and double stiched ribbon. The embellishment is made with circle and our scallop punches as well as squares cut out. The greeting comes from the Define Your Life stamp set.

The next card is made with our Soft Sky Prints Designer Series Paper and double stiched ribbon. The star comes from our Nursery Necessities stamp set that I punched out with our Star punch. The scallop was was paper piereced. The greeting comes from the Full of Life stamp set.

The last card is made with our Pumpkin Pie Prints Designer Series Paper and grosgrain ribbon. The flower was stamped from the Polka Dots & Paisleys stamp set. The greeting comes from Full of Life.
