Sketch Challenge

Well this week, my friend Kelly posted a sketch challenge for all our fellow demonstrators. I welcome you to join me in the challenge, I have to say it was a lot of fun starting with a sketch this time and just copying. They always say use our catalogs for inspiration, why re-create the wheel, use Stampin' Up!'s ideas and make them your own. So our challenge and yours if you decide to take it is... On Page 9 of the Sale-a-bration brochure there is a birthday card, take the card and make it your own. Here is the card from the Sale-a-bration brochure, it features the Polka Dot Punches stamp set that you can earn for free with a 50$ purchase.
Here is my version of the card I first looked for designer series that s paper that had stripes in it. I found it in the retired Frosty Day designer paper from the Holiday Mini. I put a strip of the Frosty Day on the side of the card. Instead of the 4 circles on the side, I decided to go with a chocolate chip scallop edge followed by a strip of close to cocoa. Next I took a piece of Frosty Day in the Tangerine Tango color and adhered it to the front of the card, next I pulled out retired poly twill chocolate chip ribbon. Next came the circle image, I cut the large circle with my Coluzzle. I then took my Love You Bunch stamp set and with my Stampin' Write Markers, I only colored in the scallop edge from the Hugs&Kisses image. I stamped in the card stock and punched it out our scallop circle. Next came the image from the great Rock Star image from the hostess exclusive A Little Somethin', I punched this image with the large star punch. The finishing touches was the Fire Rhinestone and the paper piercing on the large circle. I did a free hand job of piercing, but I did after I adhered all the images. I used the scallop circle as guide for where to put the paper piercing. I tried to put it equal distance from the scallop edge and the edge of the large circle. Lastly came the PARTY ON, from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set. We had the word party in that set, with the on I masked off from the word congrats from the set. I have to say I like the outcome. So use the Idea Book & Catalog for inspiration, you will surprise yourself with the results. Thanks Kelly for the challenge.

Birthday Whimsy and Faux Diamond Dust
Sale-a-bration is slowly coming to an end. I can't believe how time has flown. If you are interested in earning one of the 6 Sale-a-bration products, don't delay you only have a few short days left. Here is a card I made with the Sale-a-bration set, Birthday Whimsy and the Faux Diamond Dust technique. I stamped the cake and then I took my Versamark pad and covered the cake with the Versamark ink. Next, I sprinkled some Iridescent Ice and heat embossed it. Next I took a strip of our fabulous new paper from the Occasions mini, Summer Picnic and adhered it to the card. Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon, red buttons and a strip of real red card stock finish it off.
I took the card to another level and decorated the inside and made the balloons pop. I also applied the faux diamond dust technique on them and cut them out. The greeting also comes from a Sale-a-bration stamp set, Lots of Thoughts. I used my Stampin' Write markers to color in the text I wanted and then I punched it out with our 1 3/8" circle punch and layered it on top of the 2 large square punches. Lastly, to make the card pop, I folded a strip of paper that was evenly scored 4 times to and then folded to make a box. Then two sides of the box were attached to the two sides of the card. Then balloons were adhered to another side. So when you are done, the top will be the only side that is not attached to something.

Holiday Blitz and Color Challenge
This week's color challenge automatically made me think of St. Patrick's Day around the corner. The colors this week are Gable Green and Green Galore. First thing I did was create the strip of Shamrocks that I stamped from the Holiday Blitz set. Next, with my Stampin' Write markers, I stamped the greeting Cheers to You from the Lots of Thoughts stamp set. I then proceed to punch it out with my 1 3/8" circle punch and mounted on top of the scallop circle punch that I paper pierced. I adhered dimensionals to the both levels when attaching into the cards. Next, the background, I stamped the polka dot background stamp set. Some white taffeta ribbon and gable green brads finish the card off. The best part of this card, I actually got to use my gable green brads!

This Week's Color Challenge with Love & Happiness Rub-ons
The greeting comes from a retired Ronald McDonald stamp set, Heart & Home. I needed to create a card for my cousin who is moving out of state and I thought the Home is where the heart is would be an appropriate greeting. I attached the River Rock card stock onto the Chocolate Chip. On the chocolate chip, I stamped in Very Vanilla craft ink, All in a Row to create some faux stiching. The finishing touches were paper piercing, vintage brads and chocolate chip wide taffeta ribbon.

So Many Scallops Homemade Gift Bag
Here is a homemade gift bag made with the So Many Scallops stamp set. The Happy Birthday image was stamped in Pumpkin Pie and Real Red and then with my 1 1/4" circle stamp, I punched the center out. Next I mounted the circle onto pieces I punched with my scallop circle and 1 3/8" circle punches. The bottom of the bag, I used the Pumpkin Pie designer series paper. Some real red wide grosgrain ribbon and buttons finish the gift bag off.

Sweet One Scrapbook Page
Well I finally had a chance to scrapbook my new guy in my life, my nephew, Michael Joseph. He is now 3 weeks old. He is just too cute.
I got to use some of the new things that just came in for me. I just got the Hostess Exclusive Prints Pack Designer Series Paper. It has the prints paper in Bashful Blue perfect for this page. I also got to use the So Many Scallops stamp set. It is one of the sets you can get for free though Sale-a-bration.
So the bottom of the page, I put strips of Whisper White, Bashful Blue and the Bashful Blue Prints Designer Series Paper. I also punched some stars out with my star punch with the Bashful Blue Prints DSP. I attached them to the page with Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped the Sweet One stamp and punched it out with my Scallop circle punch and layered it on top of Bashful Blue and Whisper White card stock. I also popped up the image with dimensionals. Some Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain Ribbon finish the page off.

Celebrate Friendship
The first set is made with our Sale-a-bration stamp set, Lots of Thoughts. The background of the card and the box, she stamped with the Sprinkles stamp set. The colors are are Pretty in Pink and Purely Pomegranate. She finishes both of these with the Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon. The box is a Ghiradelli Chocolate boxes created by Shelley and you can see the template on her blog Mocha Memories.
The second project is a card made with Artfully Asian and the Faux Silk technique. Click here to get step by step instructions on how to do the technique. The colors are Ruby Red, So Saffron, Kraft and Mellow Moss. She made the scallop edge with our corner rounder and the accessory is the Mellow Moss Taffetta ribbon.
I also wanted to take the time to showcase some things Colleen has shared with me as well. I just have been running around and completely missed posting them when I originally had them come across me.
The first one is a pocket card made with Birthday Whimsy stamp set. You'll notice Colleen has been an embossing mode lately. Here she embossed the cake. The colors of this card are Eggplant Envy, Rose Red and So Saffron. She finishes the card off with some Eggplant Envy Grosgrain Ribbon and the corners punched with the Tag Corner and the corner Rounder. She also made the scallop edge with the corner rounder. The background she wheeled the Sweet Stars Jumbo wheel.
The next project Colleen made was Card Candy made with the So Many Scallops stamp set. As you can see from the shine, she embossed again! I love how they came out. If you have never seen card cand
y, this great. All the images are attached on one side with the Pop-up Glue Dot. The other side is still attached to the paper it comes on from the roll. So when the person is ready, they can just pull it off the backing and attach it to their card or project. She embellished them with Jumbo Pewter Eyelets and Pretties! The So Many Scallops stamp set of course perfectly coordinates with our Scallop Circle punch.
